How to get around Cannes?

Where to park in Cannes? Where are the free car parks? Where can I take a boat to the Lérins Islands? What are the bus lines to get to the beach? Find all the essential information on each mode of transport in Cannes.

The bus

an efficient way to get around
  • The company Palm Bus

    In Cannes, the Palm Bus network offers 30 regular routes, 9 routes accessible on demand and 5 routes for night buses on the Palm Night network.

     

    Offers : 

    • The 1-day pass at €4.60, on sale only on board the bus, with the driver.
    • The 3-day pass at €9.20
    • and the Palm’Hebdo Card at €17.00, on sale at commercial agencies and all “Palm Bus” sales outlets and on the online shop

     

    Conditions of use and validity :

    • 1 day (24 hours) / 3 consecutive days (72 hours) / 7 consecutive days of free travel on the entire Palm Bus network, from the time of purchase.
    • To be validated each time you board a bus.
  • The Palm Imperial: discover the Croisette in a convertible bus

    This service is offered every day from 6.00 am to 9.00 pm with an average departure every 15 minutes. Tickets cost €1.70 and can be purchased from the driver.

    Free visit without commentary.

  • The city centre shuttle: the City Palm

    This shuttle serves the city centre of Cannes, including the Croisette and the Rue d’Antibes. It is available from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7.15pm with a passage every 10 to 15 minutes.

    Tickets cost €0.90 and can be purchased from the driver.

    Offer for car park customers*: free travel on the CITY PALM shuttle!

    One car park ticket = unlimited travel for the day, for one person, on presentation of the car park entry ticket issued on the same day.

    *For the car parks: Ferrage Meynadier – Gare SNCF – Gray d’Albion – Lamy – Pantiero – Palais – Roseraie – Suquet Forville

  • The Suquet shuttle

    The Suquet shuttle to discover the historic district of Cannes

    This shuttle bus links the Hôtel de Ville to Le Suquet and serves the Musée de la Castre and Notre-Dame d’Espérance. This electric bus is available all day from 9am to 7pm with a departure every 25 minutes.

     

    Offer : thee « Suquet Forville Pass » allows you to travel for a whole day on the Suquet Shuttle (on sale with the driver for €0.90).

    Conditions of use and validity:

    – The “Pass Suquet Forville” allows you to make as many trips as you wish on this shuttle, until the last trip of the day.

    – It is compulsory to validate your ticket each time you board.

    – It does not allow you to make connections with the rest of the network.

    Please note: no partial or total refund of the PASS will be accepted on the grounds that the “Suquet-Forville Pass” was validated for the first time on a journey at the end of the day.

    The other tickets of the “Palm Bus” network (tickets and subscriptions, except for the “City Palm” ticket) can still be used on the Suquet Shuttle.

  • Summer shuttles

    These free shuttles are offered throughout the summer for easy access to Cannes’ beaches: the Boccacabana shuttle and the Mouré Rouge shuttle.

  • 2 Palm Express lines

    This network links Cannes to Mandelieu-la-Napoule and Mouans-Sartoux.

    The Palm Express A line serves the Bastide Rouge campus and the multiple Cineum to Mandelieu.

    The Palm Express B line serves the commune of Le Cannet Rocheville, and runs up through Val de Mougins to Mouans Sartoux.

Coming to Cannes by car

Coming to Cannes by car and parking in one of the town’s car parks

There are many parking facilities available for strolling, shopping or attending a show without constraints. Cannes has 16,000 free surface parking spaces, nearly 2,500 paying on-street spaces, 7,000 spaces in closed and underground car parks and 3,500 spaces for two-wheelers.

 

Attractive parking offers

Tariffs have been introduced for the city centre car parks:

  • 6 hours free at weekends: 3 hours on Saturday + 3 hours on Sunday;
  • 2 hours free once a week, from Monday to Friday, in addition to the first free hour per day for the 6 car parks offering this service;
  • an “evening pass” capped at €3 from Saturday 7pm to Sunday 9am;
  • a “beach rate” for the Roseraie car park of €1.5 for a half day and €3 for a day (only in july and august).

Take the boat

to the Lérins Island

4 companies organise daily boat trips to the Lérins Islands. These regular shuttles last 15 to 20 minutes and allow you to travel comfortably to the Saint-Honorat and Sainte-Marguerite Islands.

Hire a solar-powered boat without a licence

From May to September, rent a Solar Boat, an electro-solar boat that can accommodate up to 7 people to visit the Bay of Cannes and the Lérins Islands.

The bicycle

This environmentally friendly form of transport is one of the fastest ways to get around the city and has many benefits for the body.

Cannes, a land of bicycles

The town has numerous cycle paths, particularly on the Croisette, and is crossed by EuroVélo 8, the international route that links the Mediterranean by bike. Several sites in the town, such as the Tourist Office, the Town Hall and the Forville Market, have been awarded the “Accueil Vélo” label, a guarantee of quality, to offer a welcome and services adapted to cyclists.

The little tourist train

to quickly discover the city

The little tourist train is an excellent way to get around the city and discover Cannes in a short time. Three tours departing from the Old Port are possible: the Croisette Tour, the Historic Tour and the Big Tour.

Croisette Tour
This 30-minute ride will take you to the palaces, beaches and luxury boutiques of the Croisette. This little train also known as the Train du Cinéma allows you to see the yachts of Port Canto, the Palm Beach, the casinos and to finish on the Rue d’Antibes and the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.

Historic Tour
This little train offers a 35-minute tour of the historic district of Cannes: the Suquet. Starting from the Palais des Festivals and passing by the Old Port, this tour takes you to the Marché Forville, past the Musée de la Castre and walks you past the beaches of the Boulevard du Midi. The highlight of this tour is the panoramic view at the foot of the medieval church Notre Dame de l’Espérance.

Big Tour
If you don’t know which tour to choose, opt for the Big Tour which combines the Croisette Tour and the Historic Tour. It is a one-hour tour.

  • To buy your tickets, go to the train departure point.
  • Train departure: Pantiero promenade.
  • Free tickets for children under 3 years old and reduced rates for children up to 10 years old.
  • Group rates are available on request for groups of 20 or more.
  • Times: regular departures from 10am to 8pm and from 10am to 11pm in july and august.
  • Simultaneous translation in 8 languages (French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Chinese).

The electric scooter

Fun and modern, the gyropod and segway are two new modes of transport to discover the city. One-hour and two-hour tours are available, and private tours can be arranged.

Walking in Cannes

Even if all modes of transport have their advantages, getting around Cannes on foot is a matter of course. This human-sized city has two pedestrian zones: the Hoche district and the Forville Market area with rue Meynadier.

In passing, I make a small diversions to go and see the majestic 2-metre high cross which gives its name to this unique natural site, which is adorned with gold during the flowering of the mimosas.
